      Richard Paradis, P.E., BSCP, Bd. Cert. Noise Control Engineer,

       is Director of the Advanced Materials Program at the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). He was formerly the Manager of the Federal Buildings Program for the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC). He is co-developer of the Whole Building Design Guide and has extensive knowledge of the integrated design process, sustainable design principles, facility security, acoustics and energy efficient products and systems.  He was project manager, curriculum developer, and a presenter for the workshop series "Design Strategies for Low-Energy, Sustainable, Secure Buildings."

      He has been an invited speaker at the Federal Environmental Symposiums, Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) 2008 Conference, Arc-US Architects Conference, Construct 2009, Federal Facilities Council, General Service Administration (GSA) Annual Security Conference, and the Ecobuild series conferences, among others. Before coming to NIBS and SBIC, he worked for the Department of Defense in the areas of security, acoustics, energy conservation,and design criteria and specifications.
