T&DI Board Selects David Hein as their Official Nominee for the 4-year Elected Position on the Board of Governors

David K. Hein, P.Eng., M.ASCE has been selected by T&DI's Board of Governors as the Official Nominee for the 4-year position on the Board of Governors, commencing October 1, 2015.  Mr. Hein is a Principal Engineer and Vice-President of Transportation with the Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) in Toronto, Canada. He is the manager of the ARA Transportation Infrastructure Division with office operations in Ontario, Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas. He is responsible for transportation asset management, training, pavement design, evaluation, value engineering, design/build, public/private/partnerships and highway and airport infrastructure management. He has been extensively involved with engineering and trade organizations including ASCE, ASTM, World Road Association (PIARC), Transportation Research Board, Transportation Association of Canada, Asphalt Reclaiming and Recycling Association, Falling Weight Deflectometer User Group and the Ontario Good Roads Association in developing standards, tools and training materials to advance the field of Civil Engineering.

Mr. Hein leads ARA's municipal and airports asset management group implementing MAP-21 requirements. Mr. Hein has over 30 years of experience in managing projects, providing expertise to businesses and government in engineering, skills training, and technical writing. Mr. Hein has managed large engineering design and research projects and multi-disciplinary project teams. He has been involved with asset management, pavement design, construction, and management projects in Canada, the United States, and overseas.

Additional nominees for the 4-year position on T&DI's Board of Governors may be submitted through a petition process .  To nominate someone through the petition process you must submit a petition to the Institute Director that is received no later than May 15, 2015 containing the signatures of 150 members in good standing of T&DI.  (Student members are not eligible to sign the petition.)  Accompanying the petition shall be a statement from the potential nominee indicating their willingness to stand for election if nominated and to serve if elected along with a biographical statement highlighting their service to T&DI, ASCE and other professional and technical organizations and a photo of the person.  To be considered for the position on the Board of Governors, the nominee shall be a Member in good standing of T&DI and a member in good standing of ASCE at the time of nomination.  Student members are not eligible for election to the Board of Governors.  The petition, nominee's statement, biography and photo shall be sent to the Institute Director, Muhammad Amer, M.ASCE at American Society of Civil Engineers, 1801 Alexander Bell Drive, Reston, VA, 20191, USA and received no later than May 15, 2015.  Electronic submissions may be made at
