Jeffrey S. Gagnon Receives the 2017 James Laurie Prize

The Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) is pleased to announce the selection of Jeffrey S. Gagnon, P.E., M.ASCE to receive the 2017 James Laurie Prize for his contribution to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the design, construction, and management of airport pavements that has led to more efficient use of Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funds to maximize the return from taxpayers' dollars.

With 15 years of experience in the consulting and construction industry, and nine years of experience as the Manager of Airport Pavements Team at Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) National Airport Pavement Test Facility (NAPTF), Mr. Gagnon has demonstrated true commitment to the profession and advancement of transportation engineering for nearly 24 years. He has earned a national and international reputation for his expertise in design, analysis, and pavement management. Under his leadership, FAA's NAPTF Research Team received ASCE's prestigious Robert Horonjeff Award in 2012, and the American Concrete Pavements Association's (ACPA) Marlin J. Knutson Award for Technical Achievement in 2016.

Mr. Gagnon's work on the airport pavement management (FAA PAVEAIR) is at the forefront and cutting edge of research.  The outcome of his research has led to the development and revision of numerous FAA Advisory Circulars.  Mr. Gagnon has vast experience in teaching airport pavement design and construction workshops for various international agencies such as International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Latin America and Caribbean Airports Paving Association (ALCAPA), state aviation agencies, and various professional organizations such as ACPA, Asphalt Institute, Airports Consultants Council (ACC), and AAAE.
